Historical Significance:

The monument, sitting on a 0.074 acre parcel of land owned by the Mecklenburg Chapter, NSDAR, was erected in 1926 to memorialize the site of the World War I training camp called Camp Greene. The monument stands on a base with inscriptions naming all the units stationed at the camp. The site is surrounded by a protective iron fence and landscaped with yellow daffodils. The chapter acquired the property on 1 Mar 1921.
