In 1956, on the way home from Continental Congress in Washington DC, the Crossnore Chapter DAR members decided that the organization needed a log chapter house. In December of 1957, the cabin was located locally in Avery County, taken apart and moved to the campus of Crossnore School. The first meeting of the chapter in the restored cabin was held on October 12, 1959. This log cabin contains 4,884 SF and was built circa 1904 by members of the Webb family on Little Plumtree Creek, Avery County, NC. The building was constructed by John R. Weaver, the long time head of buildings and grounds at Crossnore School. Obie Johnson is also credited with construction of the porch. The room is furnished with antique furniture of varying dates.
