Historical Significance
The monument is to honor and commemorate the men and women of the original 13 colonies and their efforts for our independence. All 13 colonies have a stone with their names, with North Carolina on the top. There is a plaque on the stone in the middle.

Monument Text: To Honor and Commemorate the Men and Women of the Original Thirteen Colonies Who Achieved Independence and Union for the United States of America. Erected by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution of North Carolina under the Leadership of the Caswell-Nash Chapter, D.A.R. 1936
Acknowledgement: Caswell-Nash Chapter has the permission of North Carolina State University to maintain/clean this monument every year or two. The chapter members place a wreath in front of it on the Fourth of July.
