A special ceremony to rededicate the valor of Margaret Corbin was held at the West Point Cemetery on May 1, 2018. The ceremony was hosted by the Daughters of the American Revolution in partnership with Army National Military Cereteries and the United States Military Academy. The rededication took place at the Margaret Corbin Monument which was donated by the DAR in 1926. Nearly 250 years after the Battle of Fort Washington, Margaret Corbin’s bravery and legacy as one of the first women to serve in combat in the defense of our nation continues to transcend and inspire women in military service today.
