We have one stamped bedspread, but stenciled ones were at least as common if not more so—they were very popular in New England and New York in the 1820s and 1830s, along with stenciled and stamped furniture, accessories (e.g. boxes), and walls. These don’t come up for sale terribly often and this one is a particularly excellent example, with very typical flower basket motifs in standard framed center layout, and with all colors fresh and the ground fabric in apparently excellent condition.
